Default do you think i could make a claim for this???

i was a member of A&L for 10 years or so.

had my wages go into the bank weekly for years etc so always had an active account in the black(quite a few times in the red i expect lol)

anyhow remember when they changed from building society to bank or whatever they did?

people who had a certain amount of money in their accounts got a nice little share windfall but not me.

i never received a notification of the dates and amounts you needed and when it all took place i went into my branch to see what was what and was told i never qualified because i was under the £100 by about a tenner or even less.

do you think i should have/could make a claim stating how unfair it was and wether i should have qualified as i used that account for all my direct debits/wages/standing orders etc so had prrof i was a regular customer unlike all the people who heard about the merger thing and just deposited a lump sum untouched a month before and so came out quids in?

it'd been a few years obviously but this has always bugged me and wouldn't mind a few quid coming my way these days!

as for other charges i bet if ai claimed for the past 20 years i'd be loaded-natwest and HSBCicon stung me for years

I think thats way too long to get a claim in now, I think you may have had some sucess 9 years ago, if you had complained to their H/O at the time, but I doubt it now! Again I cannot say for sure! Another member might be more informative...

rang their head office but the women dealing claimed she couldn't give full info.
basically i wanted know what accounts did/didn't qualify.

she said she thought currant accounts didn't but didn't seem to sure/was trying to fob me off.

anyhow i think i'll contact them in writing and see if anything can be done-spoke to someone on another forum today and he said had the same problem- adirect debit took him a pound under their requested total so got sweet fa-syrely this was unfair.

Default a&l are refusing to pay back anybodys bank charges-all read in

did the initial lbaicon for my wifes old current account-was only £245 of charges and received a letter containing the following!!!

Dear glsp account(what the hell is a glps account?)

I have noted your comment that you believe the charges ttaht have been raised on your account to be unfair, please be assured our charges are reasonable and are competitive with the charges made by other financial organisations.

The office of fair trading(oft) has commented that they consider the level of late payment charges to be unfair, however they were actually referring to late payment fees for credit card payments, which are quite distinct from a bank's charges on current accounts.

As yet, the oft have not entered into any discussions with the banking industry regarding current accounts. however, should the position change in the future, then alliance and leicester will participate as appropriate.

given the above, i cannot accept you have been unfairly charged as you suggest.i regret , therfore, that i am unable to agree to your request for a refund of the charges on this occasion.

This was a stock letter under the refeerence UNFAIR2 sent by M PARKER at customer services in bootle.
so thay are saying the don't/won't/never will pay back current account charges.

has anyone else received/seen this letter.

do i just proceed onto the next stage now and also get the 8% interesticon added to the total?

this could be a worrying thing for many people who may be fooled into thinking the bank are in the right.

can anyone shed some light on this?

    Hi,

This is a typical response received from most banks not just A & L. Stick to your timescales and proceed as normal.

If you read through the successes on the A&L forum you will get to know their strategy. It is the same for everyone. Deny charges are unfair, you take out small claimicon, they serve notice to defend, and then pay in full. Don't worry, read through the forums and get confidence and then proceed. I have been successful twice.

I' about to put together my mcol to this lot. The letters are to scare you out of proceeding. I'm nervous about doing it but there's no way i'm going to be ripped off. Follow the advice here and the timeframes and hopefully all will go well. Looks like there's a few of us doing the mcol in the next few days so take pleasure in the thought some poor sods got to go though all of them and tell the boss that they're about to be forced into some large payouts. Just remember they're edit and we're in the right!

I sent them my lbaicon letter and schedule of bank charges recently & after 2 weeks finally had a reply from the manager of the customer services a hilary cummings who again refused to repay and enclosed a leaflet regarding complaints procedure to the Financial Ombudsmanicon. Thats it my moneyclaim will be completed and sent to them this week for the full £800 plus 8%. Lets see what happens next!
