Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi all,
I've just recently successfully claimed back my charges from HSBC (also my sister's, OH, brother and mum)!
A friend has now asked me to help her also and I'm a bit stumped! A and L recently closed her account as she literally went a couple of quid overdrawn (she has her benefits paid in). They gave her no notice and just closed it.
I suggested she send off a SAR with a £10 cheque which she did a couple of weeks ago.
Now she's pretty sure they've cashed the cheque and they've sent her a letter back (not verbatim as I haven't seen the letter yet) saying that they want more money for issuing the statements of charges! How can they do this and has anyone else had this from A and L?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Lisa
If she sent the SAR from this site then it's enough for them to provide the statements, she needs to find out if the cheque has been cashed and if so, send off the DPA non compliance letter off here, slightly amended to suit the situation.
She should also complain to the financial Ombudsman about the closure of her account as they have to give 30 days notice.
Hi Ian,
thanks for that. I did the SAR for her from this site so I knew it would be ok in that sense. Also, they have definately cashed her cheque! I'll send off the DPA non compliance asap.
Lisa
