Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
OK, time I started a thread, i sent my statement requset into Abbey just over a week ago and still waiting to hear back.
i have to admit i am a little worried at this moment in time as due to the investigations going on into the charges making the headlines just lately, what i dont want to happen in Abbey decide to go slow waiting for an outcome which right go in the banks favour, what if they rule that the banks must reduce future charges in line with fair trading but all old charges do not need to be revoked !!!!!!! guess i have left this a bit close to the wire..........
will have been just over a week on monday so will call them to see if they have at least started to process my statements but it does say they have a very long time to respond to my form.
will keep this updated from now on and re-read the steps laid out in this site.
Hi Pete
Just stick to your timetable, Abbey will stick to theirs. I have just received after a 5 week wait a GOGW £385 my claim is for alsmost £7K so I will now carry on and take the court route, after I have written the rejection letter, but accepting the payment on account. It also helps to read as many threads as you can to see what is involved, I have no doubt that I will get the full amount but you have to be patient. Normally, Abbey and others pay out just before the court date.
Good Luck with your claim and just post on your thread, any questions you need answering.

Hello, This process when you start can seem a bit scary. Its the what if's and the buts?
Even if the banks by some miracle did reduce their charges and I feel it actually must come to be fair to all, they have robbed everybody blind for how many years. and because they have done that they must be prepared to pay for that.
If in August 2008 they reduced there charges, I would be inclined
to believe that after that date if they took charges, it would then be harder for you obtain them back.
But they have robbed you blind and sat at their desks smiling smugly saying our charges are clear and transparent and anyway its your own fault for not keeping enough money in your account and after all we are a bank and can do what we want. so there
The majority of people in debt are in that situation because of greedybanks charges refusing DD etc, cascading that to loan companies and credit card companies who then charge late payment charges and it goes on and on and on.
Have no fear my friend, you will get back your unlawful charges that they have deceived you into making them millions of pounds of profit.
I probably sound very bitter that is because I am.
I am much more educated into their immoral ways, You need to read the threads and educate yourself to be one step ahead of them
Good luck although you won't need, just stick to the process, it may take a bit of time but you will get there.
