Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi I have just joined the group and I am in the process of claiming £2050 from the Halifax. The bank received the claim on 14th feb 2007 which they acknowledge in a letter saying they would respond in 28 days, I have just recieved another letter appologising for the delay and saying they will respond by 12th April, are they using delaying tactics or is this an acceptable delay?
Not acceptable in theory. But in practice? They are all drowning under a mountain of requests, and it's probably physically impossible for them to answer them all in time. As they will probably concentrate on those folks who keep badgering them into a corner with filing in court, that may be a way to make sure you stay near the top of the pile.
However, I've a feeling that now some banks are waiting to see what the OFT report says.
I'm surprised your first post is in the welcome section, though. Since you appear to have already begun your claim over a month ago. Might I suggest starting your own thread in the Halifax section?
