If you park on private property and get a ticket from a company is it legal? There was no signage indicating it was private land or that there would be a fine for parking there?
I've had a similar incident....Where we live there are parking bays which my son and daughter use. A few weeks ago I had to park in the last bay as I couldn't get parked outside of my home. Another resident parked her car behind mine which blocked me in. I had to ask her to move her car...anyhow to cut a long story short she phoned the council and I phoned the police
Anyhow, both the council and police informed both of us that it was public land and anyone had a right to park there......
Yesterday I had a visit from the local Housing Association(the council housing stock were sold to them a few year ago) stating that we were tresspassing as we were not tenants of them. They said that their solicitors had said that the land was owned by this H/A as it was part of purchase and that we were no longer to park there. There are no road markings or signs to indicate that the bays are private. When I asked where we could park and he could not give an answer. If we park in the bays we could face prosecution from them, if we park on the road we could face prosecution from the police!!
Any advice would be appreciated......
