is there a basic business bank account from any bank thats not credit scored?
Hi,
Does anyone know of a bank thats does a basic business bank account, like i can get for a personal account?
This is because i, like many other people here, have defaults and CCJ's and cannot get a normal business account when it is credit scored. However, it is getting to the stage where I desperately need a business account so that clients can make cheques payable to my company, as always asking them to leave the name part blank or make it in my personal name is starting to sound unprofessional to some of them.
I am self employed and work under a business name.

Hi guys am just subscribing as I am also having the same trouble. My business when it is built will be online so unless I get a business account then I will not be able to make any money!
I have found a business account which is apparently "guaranteed" but you need to pay a few hundred pounds as a deposit. Will look more into these accounts and update when I know more.

Hi got an account with Lloyds tsb, it went trough with no problems. The advisor could not get it through on the computer so she filled in a form manually. I have very bad credit so was very suprised.

Ive applied to Lloyds over the net and they have sent me a letter asking me to phone them. Maybe they might be able to help me also? I will certainly need to try.

Err, just discovered this! Going to apply straight away. No overdraft, and spoke to them on the phone. Can have cheques paid in company name, very professional ...

Part 9, page 6 states they will 'search a credit reference agency for you and your household" ... Oops! There comes the credit score ...
Re: is there a basic business bank account from any bank thats not credit scored?
Firstly, they shouldn't personally credit score you since it is the company applying for credit but alas most companies do. I have had many searches removed because searches are not allowed on individuals if you are applying as a Limited Company.
Two things to consider, do you need to write out cheques, if yes you are going to have some difficulty. If no then you can apply for a savings account with Alliance and Leicester, if you do then you will be able to send payments via transfer (no cheques)
Better still would probably be to apply with one of the building societies (Home :: BSA - Building Societies Association) list all of them, take a look and see which offer commercial/corporate accounts.
Other than that you will be stuck sorry to say, most small companies like Abbey, and A&L are stupid enough to fall foul of the legislation and credit score the individual which they should not, however the likes of Lloyds/Barclays and the rest usually don't, because they understand you can't unless you consent to it.

Old topic but I`m in the same situation. The Problem is that I live in northern Ireland and we don`t have Lloyds or Natwest. We do have Barclays (bad experiance previously tho, so thats a no go), Halifax, Nationwide, A+L + the coop as well as a host of N. Irish banks which is like going back in time when you visit their branches....Some of them actually have now got telephone banking lol.
As original post in just looking im just looking something to pay cheques into, I`m sitting on a cheque for £2400 made out to my company and I dont want to ask them to change it as its the first time I have worked for them and have a chance of getting more work but dont want to seem unprofessional. Preferably an account with an online application as I don`t want to be embarrassed getting turned down in a branch (3 Defaults).

Co-Op gave me a business account in 2007 when other banks wouldn't. I had a CCJ against me, courtesy of IR even though IR admited no money is owing.
If my comments have been useful please click the scales and let me know.
Me vs Rockwell/Tessara/RBofS: pending.
Me vs MBNA/1st Crud: Discontinued.
First Direct Overdraft: CCJ won.
IR: 2 CCJs 1 won.
Birmingham Midshires: pending
BT: pending
others to come....
