Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I finally picked up on this overcharge business a while ago, when there was an update programme of some sort on tv following up a previous programme of some sort... you understand I haven't really engaged with this so far.
Having read quite a lot of FAQs and forums this morning, I feel quite scorchingly angry about the limits to which banks have pushed some people who are not necessarily able to argue the toss about fairness and legality. Fiduciary duty of care my foot.
So, on the grounds that it would be quite nice to get £1000 or so, and because I think everyone should challenge this sort of behaviour, I am sending my SAR today. Good outcome = money back. Wa hey. Bad outcome = instantaneous closure of my bank account with demand for immediate repayment of £4000 overdraft. All sorts of misery.
Wish me luck. And good luck to all your claims - the only reason I'm not angrier is that it's been really lovely reading all the supportive messages flying around between people.
Thanks Tori - this is going to be a dull thread for 40 days though i reckon. being abysmal with money i'm sure i've loads of charges to look at, but won't know for sure until next month. Still, that's a month to work out how this process really works.
I think my statements came in like 2 weeks, maybe I was just lucky Mine is also a waiting game now - there's lots of that especially with Barclays, only too quick to take ya money, but not so quick at giving it back, but hey ho at 33p a day interest who's counting!!!
