I went into Lloyds TSB yesterday to pay in a cheque.

I didn't have my paying in book so used a counter slip.

There is now no stub on the slip so there is no receipt issued for payment recieved.

I thought it was illegal not to issue a receipt? Am I wrong?

Can I insist on a receipt?

I suppose they could argue that the paying in book issued should be used but is a stub receipt really too much to expect...

You should get a green and blue slip handed across the counter.

You sign the blue slip and that signs the green slip underneath.

Your receipt of transaction is the green slip.
