RBS credit card. Sent SAR but haven't cashed cheque?

Just started my claim off of RBS for an old credit card I used to have. Sent the SAR and cheque, I know the letter was received as I sent it recorded but they haven't cashed the cheque. Do I still count down the 40 days from when the letter was sent?
Has this happened to anyone else, it has been over 2 weeks now and counting.
