Default Office of Fair Trading (April Announcement)

    Hi Everyone,

I was reading on Money Saving Expert site that the Office of Fair Trading are supposed to be making an announcement stating a figure that they feel the banks SHOULD charge us (and be classed as reasonable). The announcement is supposed to be made in April. Does anyone know how this will affect our chances of getting our money back? Or is there a thread on here that I have missed discussing this issue?

I dare say that it will give more power to the banks as then they will offer us the difference between what we have been charged and what is deemed as 'fair' meaning that we will not get the full amount back. I would also have thought that it would be more likely for cases to go to court OR for Barclaysicon to wait until the last minute to pay up with more cases!

Does anyone have any suggestions/views or profrssional knowledge that maybe of interesticon ?

    Thanks Teach57

well, that is a bit spiteful by me, but they are good on a lot of things but the charges thing for them has only been going about 5 months and this site is over 12 months old and a lot of people experienced in claiming.

...ummm...I first joined CAGicon (or BAG as it then was) by reading our very own Dave's article on bank charges on MSE in Feb 2006...Marty has been a supporter of this site for a long time...at least he did used to be a supporter...

I agree with you there - this site is far superior! The advice and support you get is second to none! I have been reading everything that I can get my hands on when it comes to bank charges as I feel that being forewarned is forearmed - and a thicko like me needs to read up because if it wasn't for this site I wouldn't have a clue where to start!

Its nice to know that if you are unsure about what you've heard there's always a person/people that can assist! It is the single reason why people using the site should feel at least a little obligued to contributeicon once their claims come through, if not before!

I should clarify the point on 5 months, i mean that they had a dedicated forum on claiming charges. I also read the article on MSE which brought me here to the CAGicon, which Dave wrote for that site
