    Default PPI & Self-employed

    Hi
I have PPIicon on a few credit cards - When I signed up for the cards, I was an IT Contractor working through my own Limited company - Would I be classed as self-employed or full time employee, as I am a director of my "one mand band" Limited company ?

The reason I ask, is that maybe the PPI would not cover self-employed.

Also, I do not recall choosing the option for PPI with the credit card application, which would have been made online - Would a CCA request show whether I selected PPI or not ?

    Thanks

Hi I'm in the same boat and trying to get it cancelled and repaid.
As a director or employee of your own company they will class you as self employed. Any benefits you get will not be worth a carrot. The only time they will pay out is if you go involuntraly insolvent or bankrupt or you die !!

check your policy carefully especially the exclusions. yours may be different from mine.

though my O/H was not running her own co.
she was self employed [& so not covered at the time of A/C opening].
& i'm going through the same game with 3 CC's she has

you need to SARicon them [clearly stating the £10 is the statutory fee NOT a payment on the A/C] + request a full signed agreement, PPIicon policy, and any transcripts of telephone conversations etc they rely on to claim you signed up for the PPI.

i have have also included a line which states 'i wish an agreement signed by myself which clearly show i filled in the PPI option box by hand in ink, not one sent to me already completed by a member of your staff or an automatically generated computer printout'.

that should stitch them up quite nicely.

    Thanks for the replies !

Out of interesticon, who are you trying to claim PPIicon back from ?

I'm going for MBNAicon & Barclaycard initially and would be interested to know if you have approached either of these and what the initial responses were like.

    Many thanks !!

Hi I'm trying it on with RBSicon and not getting too far at the moment......but we'll see !!!!
Initial response was "go away and stop bothering me" well nearly!
they were not too interested at first but I've kept at them
just sent them a "give me back my money" letter
lets see where that gets me
