Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I had financial problems due to illness at the end of last year, HSBC were as unhelpful as ever and my other finances started to slide. I agreed with Egg at the end of Jan to pay my balance at around £50 p/m as part of a payment plan.
Due to various stresses I had completely forgotten to pay this, I'm paying my bills manually due to HSBC dispute.
Today I have a call from DCL asking for payment in full.
I called Egg and asked as to why I was not given a phone call to say I had not paid, I have to call again tomorrow as the dept was closed.
I may have received a letter but it was not opened, I have had loads going on over the last few months and it's been kind of the last thing on my mind.
Due to the above I know I'm not exactly whiter than white on the situation but I'm just wondering where I stand with it all. I want to pay and am willing to pick up any arrears, 2 months max I reckon, in order to get it sorted and not have the DCL involved.
Having only just got myself back together after being signed off for 3 months due to depression I really don't want this to send me into a downward spiral.
