Hi, recieved a letter from the A & L this morning with a copy of the acknowledgement of service that they have filed with northampton county court. Am i to recieve any forms from the court for me to fill in with regards to this ' acknowledgement of service'? Also they sent me a letter which states;
' We note that you are seeking to recover charges added to your account since 14/01/2001. Under the Limitation Act 1980 the maximum period for which you can make a claim of this nature is 6 years. Can you therefore please provide us with a detailed Breakdown
of the charges that you have incurred since 27/02/2007 so we can consider this matter further. Can you please provide us with this breakdown within 7 days from the date of this letter.'
The dates for the charges i am claiming are between 14/01/2001 - 30/06/2006 so within the 6 year period.
Do i need to reply to this letter that they have sent or ignore it?
Hi Becs ...Welcome to the site.
No you need not reply to any acknowledgement of service.
They have the additional time from the 28 days of deemed service (from when claim, was deemed served to them ) to submit a defence..thats next on list
Looks like they have made a mistake with their dates I think this should mean 27/02/2001.
You can stay within the limitation anycase since your original dispite on this account is likely to have been well before you filed your court claim.

Date claim No
Dear Sir,
Thank you for your letter of............in respect of my claim for account No...........
It is my understanding that I am titled to reclaim charges between the periods as outlined in the charges schedule.I became aware of the charges being unlawful and disputed these BEFORE the dates you suggest.
I therefore hope this clarifies that I will be claiming charges from 14/01/2001 to 30/06/2006 inclusive.
A further copy of this schedule is enclosed.
I look forward to receiving your defence
yours Sincerely
