Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I recently successfully got over £1000 back in bank charges from A&L. However, they have now closed my account, according to the letter they sent, for failing to repay an outstanding amount. This outstanding amount consisted of £100 authorised overdraft and as they are asking for over £400, over £300 of bank charges.
I'm minded to be stubborn about this. If I just repay £100 and the interest that would have accrued on that, where do you think I stand legally? They have referred the account to debt collectors and I wonder if they could pursue me for any more or enter any details on my credit file?
Edit: I also ought to add, that I believe at least £50 or so of these are charges that were added to my account after my claim, so I was not repaid for these.
