Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
You could try writing and asking if there is a reason for the delay in payment.
Perhaps they have a dispute or query with the amount. Whatever the reason,
if they ring you or write, you will give them a sympathetic hearing. If you have a
direct line number give them it saying that their call will thus be treated in confidence.
If /when they do call, it is important not to put the fear of God into them as you will find it hard to get them to contact again. You must
try not to be judgemental and criticise them, so as to ensure that they
keep in contact-even when they can't pay you. At the same time you
have to assert your self sufficiently so that they understand that they cannot walk all over you. Sometimes a fine balancing act.
