I am writing this just after finishing a night shift, so please excuse the poor grammar.
I put up the flyers about this great site on the notice board at work. One of my colleagues approached me and said that he had heard a radio program yesterday in which the claiming of bank charges was discussed. The program said that a lot of people after claiming back bank charges and the consequent account closure had then been unable to open up a new account. He also said that some people had also then been asked to pay back any loans they had with the bank. It goes without saying that overdrafts were also foreclosed. Unfortunately I did not get the name of the radio program concerned as I then spent quite a lot of time explaining to my colleagues the correct way to go about things i.e. register with this site, start a thread, get help and read, read, read.
I know that the mods have done everything in their power to get people to register and start their own thread (so the more experienced can guide people) but it appears that some are just jumping in without thinking about what they are doing, using the site as a visit and pick solution. Especially so after the recent publicity. I despair about this as I can imagine that some of these (I leave the adjective to the reader) can ill afford to pay the price of account closure.
I don’t know the answer to this, a bigger warning about the dangers of not registering and starting your own thread?
I also wonder how much disinformation is appearing in the Martin Lewis (and other) sites. I must admit I have not visited the Martin Lewis site after hearing about the inaccuracies about the OFT £12.5 ruling, although I am sure that others have and can express an opinion.
