Hi, i recentley asked for help with two hfc loan accounts which fell behind and as such two defaults were registered against me. I sent an prelim letter which they refused to accept that they were able to help (stalling, i thought). After sending an lba i received a more indepth letter, still saying the same thing. They claim that the accounts i had with them (1 hire purchase with currys and 1 loan with Benificial finance) are not governed by the OFT's report. They claim that the accounts held with them are not covered by the OFT's direction, as they say that only covers credit card accounts, i know this isnt wholly true. They claim that personal loan accounts are not covered in the report.
Could somebody please help tell me if this is true, i am at the point of court action, and didnt want to persue if they are telling the truth.
Hi Ian
Thats just a standard bog off and leave us alone letter. Stick to your timetable and carry on with your claim. Someone with far more knowledge will clarify for you but I'm claiming the same.
Keep going, they were realy helpful when i asked for the list of charges applied to my accounts, i didnt even have the account numbers, i asked for all the information over the phone a they supplied me account numbers and requesetd the charge list there and then, i recieved it within a week. The letters they send sound quite formal but only expand on the same point that they are not covered by the OFT's ruling, i think they are kicking back to see if they can bully people, i'm noy really bothered about the charges as they are minimal, its the defaults i want removed. Let me know if you get any resistance, i'm sure they will fold.
