Thread: SAR for details older than 6 years

Hi, if you ask for details older than 6 years they will probably tell you that they have deleted it all, although someone on here got thir stuff going back to 1995 only last year and someone who is an ex employee told us that they are holding details going back to 1926, if you cant get it from Abbey then you have a few options - you can complain to the Information Commissioner or you can fill in an N1 and force it through the courts and ask them for a Certificate of destruction, they have to Comply Under the Data Protection Act.


Data Protection Act 2002 Chapter 2 states;

"processing", in relation to information or data, means obtaining, recording or holding the information or data or carrying out any operation or set of operations on the information or data, including —

(a) organisation, adaptation or alteration of the information or data,
(b) retrieval, consultation or use of the information or data,
(c) disclosure of the information or data by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, or
(d) alignment, combination, blocking, erasure or destruction of the information or data;
