Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
After reading lots on this site, I decided to start the process of reclaiming charges on my Barclaycard Mastercard credit card. Here is where I'm up to:
05/02/2007 We sent "Preliminary Approach For Repayment" letter
09/02/2007 They sent standard "...very sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction..." letter and "We value your feedback" leaflet, saying "...we aim to resolve matters by 06/03/2007"
13/02/2007 They sent a cheque for £40 with no covering letter and an unsigned compliment slip! Presumably this is for both my Barclaycard Mastercard and Visa? Will phone tomorrow to confirm
14/02/2007 They sent a covering letter explaining that the £40 cheque was £20 each for my Barclaycard and Visa, and stating "...without any admission of liability..."!
01/03/2007 Their cheque has cleared so we sent "Acceptance Of Settlement Offer (only if they've attached no conditions)" letter. This is now over. We won
The amount of this claim was (only) £20.00, and we received £20.00.
