    Default Typical HD failure

Hard drive fails 2 months outside of 3 year warranty so no problem I think ill just check the date I bought it and WD said they would amend the warranty.

Checked the date 18th Feb 2004 1 WEEK outside of the warranty period - how miffed am I??

200GB hard drive down the pan, oh well just have to take it on the chin as one of those things lol

Maybe not - that might have been the purchase date, but NOT the date it was put into service. Why not claim anyway, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Well I have to report that Western Digital have agreed to change the warranty date to include my hard drive and issued me an RMA.

Thats the good newsicon, the bad news is it has to go to Germany which is going to cost about £25 but as a replacement drive is gonna be about £70 its still worth it.

I was gonna try it anyway but thanks for the suggestion about trying it anyway
