Won - 8 Days After 1st Request!!!!!

Hi everyone,

As you can probably imagine from the title I'm totally elated

***over £4300 worth of charges refunded!!!!***

and it only took 8 days following 1 letter of request!

After watching this forum for months I finally took the plunge and sent a claim to Natwest icon

on the 13th February 2007. I was prepared to see it through and was expecting a long, drawn out battle with their solicitors who I have deduced from this, and other forums, are an absolute delight to deal with (being polite here - don't want my first post deleting) and was stunned to receive an offer of the full £4300 I requested this morning from Stuart Higley at Natwest.

Could this possibly be a record?

Anyway, things are looking up for anyone awaiting a response.

I did send them a spreadsheet with the slightly amended letter of request template. It showed the date and amount of each charge and I did a sub total at the end of each month which dramatically highlighted how disgraceful the charges were as some months it totalled over £400 and one even topped £900!! (I thought they'd have a job justifying that in court!!). I put a total in bold at the end of the sheet. I sent it by special delivery to my branch.

Jetspark - Might you be better keeping it just under 5K to keep it in the small claims court - just in case they try to throw us off the scent and defend (and by some freak of nature win)?

I have only registered today and will be reading all the info before tackling the Woolwich. Can I just ask, how far back did you go to reclaim your charges? is there a certain time or can you go back to what ever you want to?

I've only had the account for 4 years so I got all statements since opening. I think you can claim for upto the last 6 years icon

though - a more clued up member/moderator will be able to confirm whether I'm right or not but good luck!

My claim took about the same amount of time, over 4k in charges. I have some bigger fish to fry now, look out MBNA icon

Nice one - hope your claim goes as smoothly.

I just wondered how many people having this quick refund have kept their Natwest icon

accounts active - I have and I noticed another person with an active account had had a quick refund - I wondered if this was anything to do with a fast payout.

Anyone any thoughts???

I'm hoping you're right about having an active account forcing a quicker settlement, as I have just sent my prelim letter yesterday claiming £4,914 and my account is still active (so far!). However, I have heard horror stories of banks freezing accounts or threatening to close, so it would appear that the response is entirely random and with my luck I'll be the sacrificial goat who gets taken all the way to court

Congratulations on your rapid win though - really good news and a great incentive for everyone to keep pushing!

Well my account was closed about 3 years ago, we are now on day 7 out of 14 on the lba icon

, all I have had so far was a letter saying that they were looking into my claim (that was within the first week of the prelim), and I am still sat here waiting.
