Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
As I have just won £4059.00 from Natwest want to chnage my current account, dont have great financial history can anyone recommend a good bank to use, I want to have, cheques, debit card, direct debits. Thanks
Personally I wouldn't recommend ANY bank to my worst enemy, however, the are a neccesary evil.
The level of account you can apply for/be accepted for depends on your credit score.
Most bank are offering a 'basic' account', direct debits, debit card(solo/meastro), but no cheques. One such account off the top of my head is the Nat west Step account, but there are others so look around. These accounts will generally offer an upgrade after 'good' banking with them for a set period (usually 6 months)
As to more mainstream current accounts, with ALL facilities, I believe they are all much of a muchness. Obviously, each application requires a credit score, and a 'footprint' left on your credit history, the more you have, the less likely too be accepted (classic catch 22)
Research all the products via the internet, and find one that suits your purpose.
I have a poor credit rating and I went to the Yorkshire Bank last week and asked to open a ReadyCash account. This was opened with no problems, Maestro card received on Saturday but still waiting for Pin number.
No chequebook with this account. Internet banking is available but have to wait two weeks before you can apply for it.
hi bob,
at the moment it is true to say that all banks are suffering under the strain of charge refunds, but i can honestly admit that i have been with Alliance & Leicester for 13 or 14 years now.
i find them to be fair and reliable with a good customer support system, ( you may have replies soon that will say the opposite, but you will have pro's and con's with EVERY bank ).
we have on our account, all that you require so give them a call. they can only say , sorry but no.
