Default help looking to claim back my charges

ok i want to claim back the charges the rbos has charges me in recent years,, i have read the article on the site, there is so much info im a bit confused, i can see that if i know my charges i can download the form and send it off to my bank.

If i dont know my charges i need to send off for a statement of charges applied to my account over the last 6 yearsicon. Now can i just write a letter to my local branch asking for this information?

I read a bit in the article about sending off £10 fee to some place for this info. What is the correct way to do this. I will pay the £10 to do this if it is necessary but the girl at the bank told me just to send a letter in to her attention and she would get me a list of the charges. Do i send the £10 and letter to the bank local to me or headquarters or some other place?

also is it £10 per account or can i request statements for 2 accounts for the same £10.

    Hiya,

It really does take a few days to get your head around all the arguments and all the information.

You will be setting a timetable (the timetable that the bank says it will work to is irrelevant). In the FAQ you will find 'Step By Step Instructions.' Start this, be clear on what your first step is (requesting the info from the bank so that you can calculate what they owe you)

Whilst waiting for the info, read up on your next step. If you make sure you stick to your own thread in the relevant area (eg [username] claim against [bank]), and use this as a sort of diary which you can update as things progress. It will also enable you to check responses to your questions, and people will be able to find your thread a lot easier.

    Good luck.

You are here, you want your money back, you will get help and support in this, but it is YOUR call, and you must be prepared to put in the effort.

Yes - deal with your local branch. They have internal channels for ensuring your letters reach the right people. And yes, include the payment with your request. They may well waive the fee, but that is their choice.

    Good luck.
