Having had some fun with Abbey (now £2300 better off), I am tuning my attention to Egg (CC and Loan).
I have read through this forum, but cannot find any similar reference to the reply to my SARS request dated 11/02/2007.
Both accounts are closed, settled in full in 2003, however, I know I paid charges.
Responces by telephone.
1. Egg CC have said that they archive old accounts, and then destroy them after 1 calender year.
This goes against the Data Protection Act, so intend to give them their alloted 40 days and then report them to the Information commisioner.
2. Egg Loan have supplied a statement showing numerous entries, and yet the balance stays the same. To explain this I have been refered to the 'Customer Liason Team', but they are now closed until Monday. I must admit to being unsure how to deal with this, I will speak to the Liason team and take it from there.
I am just wondering if this responce is usual for Egg? I am getting the feeling that they are every bit as bad as Abbey.
As you say they have to keep records longer than that under Data Protection Laws. 6 years in fact.
My credit card accounts shut about about the same time as your accounts, however I can still access them through the Egg website so I got my statements/charges from there. Maybe I was just lucky
