hello can anyone shed any light on this please. i had an RBS "interest paying current account" thats what is written on all statements from 2000-2006 and im being charged £15.00 every month,as im been overdrawn on most months. Is this a royalties account so i can claim £10.00 charges? ie (£15.00-£5.00) Any ideas??
It says it at the top left hand corner of your statement if it's a Royalties Account. If you are unsure of your charges give your branch a quick ring and ask them to explain them to you.
ok will do , but my other accounts do say royalties on left hand corner the chg ranges from £15.00 -£28.00 in dec 06 , and as i was always overdrawn at some point in the month it was always added.
thank you for the link T4ff , as i said nowhere on any statement does it say royalties, as on my other accounts,i i did ring RBS and they could not explain the charge ie royalties except to say " it was a current account and we charged you for going overdrawn" , so im going to claim it which is £4000 without contractual interest
Hi Carl1. My son has the same account as you, an interest paying current account. He gets charges £12 per month. I assumed that this is the fee for an authorised ovedraft. Any spending over the overdratf limit then incurs a maintenance charge, bring the total charge to £40.
Are you going to claim the £12 back as well? I will watch with interest to see how you get on, as we are a little bit behind you.
There is no charge for having an authorised overdraft. If you get charged £12 a month, it has to be for having a royalties account (on your statement, at the top right it should say Royalties / Royalties Gold / Royalties Premier).
If you HAVEN'T got a Royalties account then I suggest adding the £12's to your claim and adding something to your prelim saying, I am adding the £12 Royalties charges to my claim as I have never had a Royalties account and therefore should not have been charged for having one. If you can prove otherwise, I will be glad to remove these charges from my claim. Obviously ensure that is correct first!
Only other thing to check is that it isn't another one of their charges. All charges and their historic amounts have superbly been put together by livelylad here but from having a quick scan I can't work out what it is apart from a Royalties charge (unless you have had bounced cheques monthly!).
