    Default Cahoot - No contact

    Hi,
i opened a cahoot online account about 5 years ago, used it to store some money then withdrew the cash. In doing so i have gone overdrawn to what extent i dont know because i have been locked out of my online bank account.
I checked my credit rating recently and found i had a debt to cahoot of nearly £800. I received no correspondence from the bank throughout the last few years, and due to moving house a couple of times never had any contact with them.
I was horrified to find that they had put so many charges on without making any attempt to contact me so i wrote them a letter (10/11/06) explaining that i would refund whatever the overdrawn amount had been at the time i last used the account but would not pay all the charges added on over the years.
I did not hear from the bank, but a debt recovery agency in Scotland (jan 07). I have since written to the bank with the data protection letter (sent 10/01/07) and a further one (09/02/07) expressing my disappointment that i had not heard from them and again enclosing the 2 previous letters sending it recorded delivery.

Where do i go from here, by my reckoning they are almost out of time for the 40 day time limit for the information about my account. I have sent a £10 cheque which has not been cashed. Don't they have to correspond with me now they have passed this onto a debt recovery agency.
    Im worried!!

Look forward to some useful replies.
    Andy

I have finally received some correspondence from Cahoot in the form of the following letter.

I am writing to you regarding your recent request for a Subject access requesticon with a view to obtaining a record of all charges applied to your cahoot account.

In order to prevent charging the fee for a Subject access requesticon and providing large volumes of information that is not relevant to your query, i have included a list of all transactions including charges that have been applied to your accounts since opening.

I hope this information satisfies your requirements. Should you require further information or have any further question please do not hesitate to contact us again.

    Yours Sincerely,

    The cahoot team.

There has also been a balance adjustment of £291.40 (credit) to my account which is basically all the charges over the last couple of years. I have since written and asked what the balance adjustment is for, and hopefully they will put in writing the charges returned.

Has anyone else had a similar letter?

    Andy

I got the same sort of letter with the list of my charges and they didn't cash the cheque either.
I didn't have a refund of any sort though. Have they then refunded you to bring you back to the level you were overdrawn?

it is basically the same as it was about 3 years ago when i last used the account and moved house. I have written to them asking them to explain the account adjustment though just in case.
