Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I got my cheque last Wednesday, and paid it into Barclays (despite the "into account XXXXXXXX" stipulation, the Cash Manager at my local Barclays branch said this had no significance). I decided that as it was such a large amount I'd use Special Presentation to get the money quickly, and agreed with the £15 fee.
On Friday, I got a phone call from Barclays saying that RBS couldn't confirm payment of the cheque and I'd have to wait until Monday, but that Barclays would waive the fee. I just got another call saying RBS now can't locate the cheque, despite it having been sent Special Delivery and signed for!
So, is this just another example of RBS Group's incompetence or are they toying with me just for fun?

Why waste £15 on special presentation that does not clear the cheque any quicker, it is a fallacy if a bank states this. Unbeleivable. The bank use the postal system to send it which can get lost, they are not even sent special delivery to the other bank. skip that last bit, clearly Barclays work different to Natwest(just re read it). I'll shut up now, and congratulations on the win
Just got a phone call from the lovely Margaret at Barclays - RBS rang her to say it was OK to pay it, so the money's now in my account.
Yay!
