Hi all, this is probably a very stupid question! But I have never experienced it before.
Basically, just before Xmas I had a health issue which required a visit to my GP. My GP referred me to a specialist at the hospital, who then made a diagnosis, and said the treatment would be an operation under general. Now what it is is a very basic condition, and I am concerned at the fact that my GP could not diagnose it - it really is something I would expect a GP to know. I am also concerned that having done some research, there are several different treatments for it, and I have never heard of an operation being mentioned. These treatments have never been offered or discussed with me.
What I want to do is to get a second opinion, from a different GP and/or specialist(should it so require), with regards the treatment. How do I go about this?

but at the end of the day I'd rather not go in, have 2 days off work and have an operation which has the risks of any operation, when I could just pop a few pills!
...well if it has to be done at all that is!!
