Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Can anyone shed any light on this...
Included in my response from A&L was the following statement, is this correct?
"Admittedly the Office of Fair Trading has commented that they consider the level of late payment charges to be unfair, however they were actually referring to late payment feees for Credit Card payments, which are quite distinct from Current Account charges. I accept however, that the report did indicate that the same principles might be applied to other default charges, such as current accounts".
Thanks, Strangely though this was included in the letter offering me a full settlement, but warning me that if I claim again they will close my account.
strange ... as A&L has just been fined for "retaliatory action" in closing down accounts when customers make a claim against them. When did you receive this letter from them?
Thats very interesting seeing as i received the letter yesterday, dated 14/2/07, which is after the ruling against them was made. I think they are just trying to scare me off. Amusingly the letter ends with "In view of this, you may wish to consider alternative banking arrangements".
I hope one of the Mods. or site helpers will come on & look at this - it beggars belief that A & L have been called to account and then carry on regardless!
