    Smile Red V Barclays ***WON***

Hi, I have just started the long process against Barclaysicon for £580 of unauthorised OD charges.
I sent off my initial letter on the 1st February giving them 14 days to respond, and recieved a standard "thanks for your complaint etc" letter, which went on to say that they would respond but this may take until the 28th Feb.
I appretiate that this isn't far away, but that would be outside my 14 day time limit that I gave them. Should I reply with the next letter, or just wait for their responce?

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Stef

Thanks Keri. Just trying to appear reasonable, but I suppose that reason doesn't apply to the Banks. I'll pop it in the post.

I actually waited for Barclaysicon timescale to pass ( 28th Feb) but no response, so I have sent the 14 Day Prior to Action Letter. It just so happens that Barclays response turned up whilst I was at work, and in it they have offered me 60% (i.e. £350 out of £590).
I fully apprectiate that the next step is up to me, however I was just wondering what people thought. The OFT is due to announce their decision in April, and it is thought that banks may only offer the difference from what they took and what the OFT decides/suggests. In the case of the Credit Card decision they suggested £12 as a reasonable amount, so if this is the case I may only get £300. Does anyone have a suggestion/thought on this quandary that I find myself in?

Yes and it hasn't affected credit card claims at all and whatever the OFT reports it won't affect bank claims. The only quandary you have is do you want £590. If so, file at court 14 days after your lbaicon.

Thanks Michael. Would my 14 days be from today (day I sent the letter) or do I give them some lee-way i.e.Monday?

Red, look at it this way, if YOU owed THEM would they be so lenient? NO!

Do you know how much it costs the bank to slap a £30 charge on your account???

    £2.50

How annoying is that?, hopefully that has got you worked up enough to fight on.

Don't worry, it has. I am really annoyed that Barclaysicon seem to be using changing addresses on me. I first wrote to my Branch, got a reply from Customer Relations in Leicester, so that is where my 14 Day Prior to Action letter went, but received their "Take this and go away" letter from Customer Relations in Swansea!
Is this all done just to annoy me and keep me confused?

One week to go before I file with MCOL. Following on from my last post and the 2 addresses, I gave the Swansea number a ring today, but got a fantastic pre-recorded message telling me that all lines were busy and I could not leave a message! Is it only me that finds it ironic that I was calling a Customer Service Centre
When I called the Leicester number, I was informed that due to extremely high volumes at the moment, work was being frantically moved around to cover. Shame

Hi, I am just about to file with MCOL, but I was wondering if I can claim additional costs? I was thinking of my time/photocopying etc. I notice on MCOL that there is a section for Solicitor's fees so can I add a slice for me?

    Hi,
Just recieved the Notice of Issue from MCOL, and I have already sent two copies of my schedule of charges to Northampton, but I've since read that I need to send 3. Does anyone know what is correct? I've also read that I need to resend it to Barclaysicon solicitors, but I haven't been informed of who their solicitors are yet, so will MCOL tell me?

    Thanks,

    Red
