Question Has anybody else challenged this Barclaycard tactic???

I have written to Barclaycard (using recommeded template) detailing all charges that I have incurred in the last 6 yearsicon (£457.00), requesting that they refund them. They have responded saying that they disagree with my legal analysis etc etc but:

"Putting the above to one side as a goodwill gestureicon and without any admission of liability, I am prepared to credit your acount with the difference between the charges that you have incurred and the £12 fee recommended by the OFT. This would amount to £169.00. The credit will be reflected on your next statement."

If they had of charged me £12.00 all along, this would amount to £288, so the difference being £169.00 as above. My question is, is this reasonable and should I accept this, or am I entitlted to claim for the full amount? If yes, what is the legal argument that backs this up?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

You should write to them stating that you will accept the offer as partial payment, on the clear understanding you will pursue them for the remainder.

The £12 recommended by the OFT still isn't an accurate pre-estimate of the costs to your breaches. You will gladly pay their loss once they disclose their charges Breakdownicon. Until such a point, you will start litigation for the full amount.
