Default Charges for unused internet connection

    Hi guys,

I had an internet connection back in 2004 which I promptly cancelled as it was useless. I have recently been reading my statements far closer than I used to and realised I have been billed quarterly by this company even though I closed it all in 2004! Do I have any chance to claim back these charges do you think?

    Thanks for your advice

How did you cancel, verbal or written ? I trust you didn't receive any acknowledgement back from the company, so you thought it had "been taken care of"...

Write to them and ask why you are still being billed despite giving them notice to cancel in 2004. Point out that the connection has remained completely un-used (i hope!) for this time and that you seek an immediate refund of the payments made since that time.

If they claim ignorance, then you can get "heavy".

...and finally - Check your bank statements more often

Were the payments by direct debiticon, or debit card?
