Default Sky & lack of service

    Hi,

We recently (december) changed from NTL to Sky however since then we have had numerous problems and have had no sky channels on several occasions. Is there any way we can try to get out of the contract with sky? Last time there was a problem they said the engineer cannot come out for 6 days yet when they rang to confirm the appointment the error had rectified itself therefore there was no need for the engineer to come out. I am not happy that I am paying £60 p/m for something that we can't get the most of.

    Mike

Your service is for the entertainment provided, not the supply of receiving kit. If your TV aerial fell down, you wouldn;t get a rebate for the weeks you were without service. If your Sky reception is faulty, you can always get a local rigger to check it out for you, often much cheaper than Sky, or try a different Sky receiver to see if there is a fault with your receiver. If outwith the original warranty, you are on your own, but if not Sky should take care of you.

email james.murdoch@sky.com with your complaint and you'll get a reply the same day

We had all manner of problems with Sky+ and ended up paying for an engineer visit which didnt fix it and then came out again and ended up giving us a new box (upgraded from 40GB hard drive to 80GB hard drive) and a new dish but as we had been having problems for 8 months and then I found out it was a Sky sw update that caused it I wrote to Mr Murdoch and got:

    £40 engineer charge refund (cash)
£50 credit to our account (2 months viewing)

We of course got the added benefit of a Sky+ box with a hard drive twice the size which is brilliant.

    So go get em
