Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I must admit I was a little sceptical of this.....my neice told me about her claim, and i tought "yeah right"...since when do banks give you back money!!??
But...i bit the bullet and sent the first letter to my local woolwich branch in early Jan, they replied say that it they would get back to me by the 11st Feb (well past the initial 14 days!). I then receive another letter the next day saying " due to the complexity of the claim, it has been sent to head office (Barclays). Last week, I had a letter from Barclays, thanking me for my letter.....<insert standard letter text>......will do a full investigation and aim to get a complete report of their findings to me within 8 weeks!!!
Now, being the kind soul that I am, I just diarised for 8 weeks and thought I'd wait for the outcome. But after reading on here, and the moneyexpert froums, it appears that our dear Barclays are somewhat dragging their heals.....and are just stalling!!
Should I proceed to the next letter?!!!
PLus.....I've just sent recorded delivery letters to 3 credit cards that have charged us over the years too....and one of those is barclaycard, so no doubt they'll be some heal dragging there!
BTW - I think the information and posts on this, and the moneyexperts, site has been invaluable
you dictate the timescales here dont let the woolwich stall you they try everything to prolong this procedure and drag their heels at evry opertunity read the threads by other members who have sucessfully claimed of the woolwich that way you will realise just how long this takes so just carry on regardless with the next stage and keep to your timescales of prelim letter 14 days then lba 14 days then issue your MCOL its only at this stage they sit up and take notice of you ! good luck to you any problems just post on here someone will always be around to offer you advice or help !
if my advice has been of any help to you then please click the scales ! Thank you

Thanks ......and I was just about to start back down the route of chasing and not putting up with the 8 week standard repy.....
Got home from work this evening and I have had another stock letter from them, offering a goodwill payment of £1000......now IF I hadn't found these forums I would have been put off pursuing this any further.....with their fancy wording, quoting from their Terms & Conditions, saying they believe I'm wrong....blah blah....
BUt having read the forums and seeing that Barclays(woolwich) take things right to the wire and try to scare people off buying stalling....so I'm going to say Thanks, but no thanks to their offer and give them 14 days .....and pursure the full amount of £2400 (eveing though the offer of £1000 would be VERY handy!!)
I'm settled down and ready for the potential long slog on this one
