Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi all, this is a great site and am so happy that consumers are finally not being ripped of so easily by Banks and we are fighting back and winning!
Those banks are ruthless, crafty and will use you and your soul to make a buck anyway they can.

with the cheque for £10 instead of £5. So will they only charge me £5 or overcharge another £5 on top? If they do overcharge as the statements only require £5, then how do I get the £5 back?
Some edited done please watch your choice of words as these could be seen as libellous.
As regards all your questions please read the faqs all this information is very easy to find.Unless you are geared up and informed, then you will have problems later.
2. got 6 years worth of statements on 3.2.07. Calculated that I have £290 worth of charges to be refunded.
QUESTIONS:
Please be patient with me as I have no legal knowledge whatsoever.
As Martin says please read the FAqS really carefully before you proceed, you need to really understand the process before you take the plunge.
£10 DPA fee is for ALL data held about you rather than just statements, Natwest do offer to supply statements for a fiver but this is not a DPA request so they may take months to send them (as happened to me) so a DPA means theyve got 40 days to send everything, if they don't then you have proper grounds for complaint.
Send letters to your branch or NW head office at 135 Bishopsgate. London. (full address available in stickys at top of NW forum) Use recorded delivery.
The schedule of charges is a spreadsheet you send with your letters, individually listing every charge, you can find the spreadsheets here
but there is lots more to learn, such as how and when to add 8% statuatory interest etc etc. please please do some more reading.
just a note of reassurance, on lower amounts Natwest have been paying out very quickly, I got back £800 after one letter, so I'm sure your claim will be straightforward and hopefully brief.
Re: Where to send the 2. Letter - Preliminary approach for repayment.
Hi there is a contacts list at the top of the forum to help you. Seems that most correspondence goes to the address above anyway as even branches will pass it on there. I have also requested that your 2 threads be merged, pls try and stick to 1.
Ok, just to offer slightly different advice to Kate, prelim and lba letters should you need to do so are sent to Customer Relations Unit Borehamwood and never the branch(waste of time as it will be sent to CRU Borehamwood).

03. letter before action - Consumer version - asking for it back!
Seems that they only give it up when threatened! The bankers who we trust with our money, our souls!
Not too shocked as when we trust doctors that betray our trust and murder us what can we expect from bankers?! Not much, as their actions clearly show.

Looks like I am at a very similar stage and time as yourself. Sent off my lba midweek to Borehamwood.Didnt receive any reply to my initial letter for repayment. Did you get any letter back to say they were dealing with your inital letter or not. I will keep you up to date as I am slightly ahead of you as to there responses.
Got nothing after getting the statements. I feel they will play me cold (no replays) until we are in court. Even over £290. Greed has no boundaries. Am just a number to them, like the German Natzies threated the people in the concentration just as a number. Feel a lot of similarities here.
Always with love and light
