Hi
I've just been into Natwest to request copies of all the transactions that took place on my account which was opened 5 years ago & closed about 24 months afterwards.
The Customer Service Assistant assistant advised me it would cost a grand total of £5, and i just needed to complete a form.. this is where the problem started. Because i can no longer remember my account number, he tried to find me on the computer with my name and address details, which didnt return any results. He then advised that if it was closed 2+ years ago, or has been dormant for 2 years, there is no way they can locate me on their computer records, as I would have "dropped off their system".
He also advised they can only debit the £5 fee from an active Natwest account!
Is it worth me sending in a Data Subject access request with the £10 fee, if they can't locate me, or will they have other methods that their Branches don't have access to?
I'm sure Nattie is the best person to answer that one but I'm pretty sure you won't have 'dropped off' anywhere, the S.A.R - (Subject access request) should solve this one.
I'll ask Nattie to pop in later and confirm.
Thanks for replying. Silly Q (as fairly new here), is Nattie someone that's won against them, or works for them?
I used to work for the A&L & know they have name & address microfiche for all accounts produced on an annual basis, but from what i was told today (that there was no way of locating me), it made me think Natwest don't do the same...
It may just be the branch that don't have access to the records as the bank definitely keep records for at least six years (and I suspect much longer).
Nattie works for them and so will know exactly what info you need to find the records.

Molly, I am spartacus so talked about. If you had read the info in the Natwest section you could have told the guy how to look for it. He could have found it if it was me, but sadly it was not(i am cleverer than I look)
Have a look at the natwest forum in the stickie is how to find an account when it is closed. I am 100% certain that they will be able to find it.
