Hi all,
Have recieved my court date today - set for 27th April. Have to return court bundle before 21st February. I wrote to Barclays 2 weeks ago once i had returned my aq to the court, and in it i asked if they would like to settle before court date is set then to contact me - no response! Does anyone have any advice on what i can expect from here?
Thanks
Hi George,
Money would do nicely!! Lol! It has been far from easy so i think thats just a dream at the mo! I notice from an earlier thread that it may be worth giving them a call, does anyone have any experience of this?
Thanks
I can say there has been success on this however tread carefully, know what you are going to say and dont let them talk over you, be straight to the point telling them you are looking for £------ and do you wish to settle this before court to save yet more interest yes / no.
i phoned Barclays person (cant remember name!) that the Welshman did about 4 days after i got my court date and was told that i would be contacted nearer the date as there was ("as you maybe aware, sir" tee-hee) a backlog of claims. They should have my bundle by monday so ill maybe write letter to my county court to request a date sooner and then ring her again. Just be sure to have your total current claim figures to hand. Politeness and respect for others just doing their jobs is required as they do know we will get a result in every court in this fair land!

was in same predicament as yopurself had a date of 26 march for directions.
phoned litigation department asked for the legal clerk dealing with my case.
explained that due to the charges facing financial ruin and that if this could be settled before the court date and they didn't it would look terrible if we were evicted due to the charges affecting our rent being paid.
legal clerk said he would get back to me that day (last friday)
recieved phone call accepting my claim friday afternoon was told would have to wait for letter and then to send reply.
i asked could he e-mail it to me he said yes but what about the reply ?
said i would sign scan and e-mail it back.
recieved e-mail 4.30 signed scanned and sent back by 5.15 payment being actioned today. when payment in bank will stop court proceddings.
it seems to me that barclays are playing to the letter of the law and when i spoke to the legal clerk dealing with my case he originally said "we would usually contact you with an offer about a week before the date."
when i asked why wait so long, his reply was "we are so inundated with claim i deal with about 20 a day so they go in priority in line with the court date."
