Default Advice needed - A&L are REALLY messing me about!

    Hi all,

I sent a SARicon to A&L for a closed credit card and current account. I eventually received the statements for the current account at 40 days. I then sent the 14 day Pre-lim letter, re-iterating that I had not received the statements for the credit card account and asking for them to be sent, or details on where I can obtain this info (in case they are dealt with through MBNAicon).

I received their standard template letter saying that their charges are fair etc. and still no mention of the missing credit card statements.

I am sending an lbaicon today and again, requesting the credit card statements or I will report them to the Information Commissioner for a breach.

Do A&L deal with these requests or is it through MBNA? Has anyone else had issues with A&L sending credit card statements through on closed accounts?

I am willing to report them for a breach but that still doesn't get me my statements through, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I am in dispute with a Virgin credit card - issued by MBNAicon - and all my dealings are with MBNA - in fact Virgin told me that none of their "dedicated credit card team" have access to customer records!

Maybe it is through MBNAicon then, they could have just told me that in response to my SARicon letter!

Ironically, their response to my pre-lim letter stated that the OFT have only ruled that credit card charges are unfair and unlawful (not the ones on current accounts). If i could get hold of the statements they have basically admitted that I can get the charges back!

You need to pursue MBNAicon for the credit card charges.

When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.
