Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Sent SAR off to these guys nearly 3 weeks ago.Unfortuneately i have no account number for the credit card account as it was closed about 18 months ago and cannot find a statement anywhere. But i furnished them with all my personal details. Recieved a letter back informing me that they would not be sending me my statements as my information has been deleted from their main computer!!!!! I replied by saying they are in flagrant breach of consumer law which states that they must keep such data for 7 years before destroying it and as such if they cannot provide me with the said data i am quite within my rights to claim £1250 compensation for each item they do not supply. I also reminded them that the clock was ticking and my original deadline was still in force.Today i recieved another letter on much the same lines as the first but adding to get in touch with Customer Relations to see if they might be able to help.
What should i say in this letter, any advice would be really good. Thanx,
One trick that in most cases has worked, is to simply go into your local branch or ring customer services and ask them if they can locate an old account (for whatever reason - balancing books sounds good). From what I've read elsewhere, this seems to work.
This is obvious delaying tactics by whoever you sent it to and it is obviously part of the checklist. The branch / CS however, won't be aware of any of this, or of what you are doing so will be more helpful.
As for the consumer law, 7 years and £1250 - where did you get that from? Not questioning it, just out of interest that's all....

Did they actually say they'd deleted it? Wow! Not really sure tbh.
I would advise you start your own thread in Barclaycard forum, give it a name that will intrigue ppl like "Barclaycard have deleted my data" and ask what to do there. One of the learned peeps in Barclaycard forum will be able to help, personally I'm not sure.....
