Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Ok, for reasons I will not bore you with I had a car through Yes car credit some years ago and, as with most people, it was because I was desperate for a personal transport (my father was seriously ill and being in the forces at the time I was some distance from him). The way I was taken for a mug is, I must admit, a little embarassing to admit - but here goes.
Anyway, I had telephoned them and they had qouted me an apr and required deposit. Off I went to the nearest showroom. Once there and car selected they would not let me have the credit without the PPI. They played the hard sell game, leaving me in a hot office for lengthy periods whilst the salesman consulted with his manager etc about this.
They then said that if I could come up with a 40% larger deposit than they had asked for then I could have the credit without the PPI, and by the way the APR will be higher than we quoted etc. They knew full well that I did not have that money, if I had been that flush I would not have had to go to them in the first place.
So, desperately needing the car and not having the extra I took the policy with PPI - which over the course of the agreement would have amounted to about 2K.
I have the following questions -
Was the policy mis-sold to me?
If it was, can I get it back?
Or can someone point in the direction of a thread etc to find the answers for myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I would dearly love to go after them.
Hi,
Basically if they told you No PPI then No Loan..you have been MIS SOLD the expensive policy. And yes you can try and reclaim it.
Im sure there are a few YES Car Credit posts around the site so may be worth having a look through them.
