    Unhappy Halifax V Angel

I have just looked into an old account that I haven't used for months and I have discovered that they have charged me 39 pounds for something that happened a few months ago.

I was going through an extremely difficult time back then (I still am actually), and I forgot that my mobile phoneicon bill was going to come out of the account. There was not enough in the account to pay the bill, and the phone company rang me up to say that it hadn't been paid because their was not enough in my account. I paid the phone company over the phone from a different account, and changed the direct debiticon to come out of said new account. Problem solved I thought, and I never expected that Halifaxicon would have charged me.

Can I claim in back? I am a very cash-strapped student and every pound counts for me.

Will it cost me anything to claim it back?

Im so sorry if I am repeating a commonly-asked question. I had a look around, but I couldn't find anything that referred to exactly what happened to me.

    Thanking you in advance

    Angel xxxx

not very experienced in this as i have only just started the process for myself - but i would suggest ringing them up (if the whole claim would be for £39) and stating that to save the hassel of you taking action against them that could lead to filing a claim with the courts, would they be willing to give it back.

A lot of bank if its only for 1 or 2 charges, and you have a good record with them, they sometimes give them back. They did with my sister.

If you ring up and grovel like mad, saying you won't let it happen again they will more than likely refund the charge. I wouldn't say anything about court or you'll get their backs up and they won't help you at all. If they refuse to refund the charge, ask to speak to a supervisor. If that fails, start firing off the letters.

I would be very surprised if they don't refund this charge but if it gets to court stage, post back and we can help you further. Fingers crossed.
