    Default repairs

    Hello All,

We (hub & 2 kids) moved into a property on 20th November, we rent it through and agent, but have had nothing but problems. We moved in to find the heating broken, the fire condemned, the dishwasher mouldy inside and not working and various other bits. We have finally had most thingfs done, but also sent a letter asking if we could paint the lounge and put a shed up in the garden. Everytime I call the agents they say that the landlady isnt co-operating and doesnt want to get the remaining repairs done. The fences have all blown down during the stormy weather and we are considering mending them ourselves, would that be acceptable?
Also my husband says if I dont stop moaning and ringing the agents, they will not renew our tenancy in 6 months time. Is this true?
Am I being too picky? We used to be owner occupiers but struggled to maintain our property, so thought renting would be a carefree way to live,
but it turnes out renting is more of a nightmare.

Your husband is probably right, but to be honest if I was you I wouldnt want to be living in a property managed by these morons. If after repeated attempts to get repairs done you are getting no joy, then get the repairs done, and deduct the amount from the rent.
