Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
bit off track this one, but i've been taking Barclays to court over my bank acct recently, with a view to move onto my credit card next.
in the meantime, i had to cancel my direct debit a while back and each month i've logged in online and paid the minimum payment on my barclaycard. Over xmas, i forgot. this week i got a phone call requesting payment, but won't have funds til the 25th, so told them that. they set payment to come out on the 25th.
i then got a letter yesterday asking me to destroy my card, and to not use the details for anything, and also to set up a direct debit to arrange paying off the balance.
Am i within my rights to demand that as i have no credit facility, that if i arrange a payment plan (say £100 a month for 5 months) that they should give me 0% interest on the balance as opposed to the extortionate 24.9% i'm currently paying?
