Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi
Im new here must say what an excellent site
I sent a letter to First Direct about my bank charges and was more or less told to s*d off i will now write again giving them 14 days .....and see what happens this time
It's funny really - Barclays used to take it to the last second - now they offer half straight away.
First Direct, from what I've read in here ;-) used to give in straight away, now they argue for a bit, then give in.
Funny old game.

Add me as your friend on FaceBook - I need all the friends I can get
I have just had another look at my charges and on the 25th August 05 they charged me £75 excess overdraft fee £30 overdraft fee and 76p interest
£105 76p in one month .....think im in the wrong job????????
My highest charge for the month was £220 (£119 in excess over draft) £100 in overdraft fees and I cant remember the interest! I wish I could earn that in as little time as FD!
get your statements for as long as two years off of the internet - go to FD site and get the statements from there - that is what I did you dont have to pay them anything then for them to send you YOUR statements¬
Good luck - I hope you get back everything you deserve, as i hope the rest of the people on the site get.
I have got an initital letter to First Direct & Marbles with them, 13 days and counting!!!
I am working out the charges from Capital One (but I only have the last 7 months statements but that totals £500 in seven months of charges etc so have asked for the last 4 years worth of statements - whcih they have said they will send surprisingly!) and I am writing to Style and Barclaycard asking for statements and I am sure I have been collared for loads with them - no wonder I am in debt!
Fingers crossed.hope you hear soon i am waiting to hear from Barclays (sent first letter yesterday)that one come to over £5,000.....what i could do with that
I have just worked out the charges that i am outstanding with all 5(?) companies I could clear all my debts with and still have some left over for moi! I just hope it all does come off!
Thank you i will do that... ......... but i need to go back a bit further i will give them a few more days then ring again
Don't give them any time... They will use every trick in the book to slow you down in the hope that it becomes too tedious and you will give up. Find the DPA letter and send that to them by both secure messaging through their site and by snail mail. They MAY charge you up to £10 for it but they certainly didn't charge me anything and they couriered (sp?) them out to me within days.
Don't let them slow you down. They have YOUR money and you want it back as soon as possible. It's currently sitting in their accounts earning them more interestwhen it should be in your account.

Just received an email from First Direct..re DPA request.......... they have passed my email to there lending dept??? whats it got to do with them
If it was me I would reply asking them that exact question...
Did you send them £10 or authorize them to deduct it from your account ?
ATEOTD remember they've still got the same timetable regardless of which department is dealing with it...

Yes i sent a cheque for £10 last week didnt hear anything so emailed yesterday...as of yet they havent cashed the cheque
So you are fine... It's irrespective which department they send it to... They still have 40 days to comply.
As I said above I would probably ask them why it's gone to the lending department.... Really all you want is the information and then your money back and if you can assist them in getting that information/money back to you as soon as possible...
A law-suit is not really anything anyone wants to go through but need to accept that it may be neccessary !
