Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hello all.
Though I'd run this past you to see if anyone else has experienced this.
10 weeks ago, I transferred a large sum of money from my account with A&L to what I thought was my sons account with HSBC, by telephone transfer. It turns out that the account no longer existed so I asked A&L to get the money back. They said they couldnt do anything, my son had to contact the HSBC. He has done this and they promised to look into it, that was 10 weeks ago. A dozen or so phone calls to both banks have not go a result.
The money is presumably sitting ain a suspense account somewhere but I find it hard to believe that it cant be traced.
Any ideas?
I once put a wrong account number on a transfer from Cahoot to FirstDirect, FD had it in a holding account, took them about 2 weeks to return it which I thought was ridiculous at the time!
HSBC can ask for the funds to be returned if you tell them that the money went to a closed account they should write to the bank with the details and ask for them to be returned. They should have done that when the money went to the account in question.
