Getting refund of premium on mis-sold insurance by unregulated seller
I had a caravan on a holiday park until recently and I had an insurance policy in the event of damage or loss.
I checked the account with the caravan park and the park have been charging me insurance for the same. On two occasions I had sent a copy of my own policy to the park and did my own insurer.
The caravan park maintains they are entitled to charge insurance premiums in this way and refused me a refund of 2 years insurance premiums.
I wrote to the FSA filing a complaint of mis-selling an insurance policy and failure to exercise a compliance policy to safeguard against selling unsuitable insurance and failure to supply a copy of the policy wording. The FSA have replied that the park is not regulated to sell insurance and they are only known to them as a licensed credit broker.
