Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I sent my SAR and received my copies going back six years.
However I wanted to go back to the begin ning of the account in an attempt to claim more than six years. (I was going to argue the statute of limitations)
I received the following:
Quote
We only retain details of customer transactional information for a period of approximately 6.5 years after which time the data is permanently deleted from our records. I cannot confirm the exact date of the purging of the information as this is automated within our internal processes. Consequently there are no copy statements available prior to statement number xxx dated 2 June 2000
Endquote
Questions? should I believe them? If not - what can I do? Is there aby likelyhood of charging an average for the previous years?
I think this its quite normal for banks etc., to destroy info after 6 years. Obviously this makes it impossible for you to claim prior to that date if you dont already have statements.
