    Default Barclaycard claim question

I'm about to send off my DPA request to Barclaycard.
I'm in the process of transferring my balance with a view to closing the credit card account but have some charges I would like back.

I've recently opened a Barclaysicon current account as I've won £715 back from my old current account with HSBCicon and now HSBC are being arsey and applying charges left right and centre.
I've transferred all my DD's over to my new Barclays account, need to make another claim against HSBC before I close it for good.

BUT, if I make a claim against Barclaycard, it would be just my luck for them to turn round and say, "Right, for that, we're closing your current account as well"

I've claimed against MBNAicon and HBOSicon credit cards and won my money back and the accounts have remained open but could Barclaycard potentially do this to my current account and leave me having to open ANOTHER account elsewhere?

    Hi Jim
Yes you right they could close the account, by rights they should give you 30 days notice of this, but as they apply charges which are unlawful dont hold out much hope of them sticking to the Banking Codeicon.

Its appears to be a bit of a lottery weather they close it or not but to be on the safe side you could open another this time with one you have had no previous dealings with.

    Cheers.
I'll send off for my statements anyway and see how much it is.
If it's not much I might just turn a blind eye to it as the hassle of opening another account and transferring 13 direct debits and my wages etc... across again, plus new cards and PIN it might not be worth the hassle.

    Thanks for the advice.

    Jim
