    Cool New, Need Successful Contacts

I am about to put in a claim to HSBCicon for £750 worth of charges that i have worked out from my online statements. For the amount of money do people think i should put in a request through the cata protection act?
I want to hear from people who have been successful getting money out of HSBC and who were their contacts? Who do i send these letters to? Will it make any difference?

Also a little Confused but i have a HSBC credit card as well can I get the data protection info at the same time? or do i have to do different requests? do i have to send the letters to different places?

Sorry if im asking the obvious, but if i was any good at this stuff i might have relised i had been charged £750 over the last 2 years. Only worked it out today am stunned!

    Welcome.

Before you think of reclaiming your charges, you MUST, you NEED to read the FAQs and the forum material. It's long and arduous in places, but there are no shortcuts.

Once you know why you're doing what you're doing, what you're doing will fall in place. Really.

You don't need "successful contacts" for starters. It's a multi-national company, not a "my mate knows someone who can sort it out".

Read on. Come back if you still have questions after digesting it all.

Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.

LOL The tragic thing is that i have read the FAQ's and looked through the forum for days. Unfortunatly the way it is set out has got me completely confused. There is no simple step by step process.

For instance i have read all about the Data protection act and the letter that you send and how to find out where to send it. But what if you already know how much money they owe you. Do i need to waste another £10? Then the letter asking for the money back where do i send it? I have seen people quoting address's or do i just send it to a central complaints address for my bank HSBCicon.

I know this process is a complicated one but i just think there should be a bit of an idiots guide somewhere in the site. Especially for people who are not used to using message boards for factual information.

    There is.

    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...read.php?t=243

There is no idiot's guide to finding it.

The founders kind of assumed that a great big:

"FAQs :::::::::::::::::::::::::- PLEASE READ THESE FIRST!!! -::::::::::::::::::: Frequently Asked Questions. Case guidance etc :::::- Please read this before posting any new questions. ------ MOST OF YOUR QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED HERE ALREADY ------- If you ask a question in the forum that is answered in here, expect your post to be ignored."

followed by "Step-By-Step Instructions " would be sufficient clues.

Maybe the mods could get the FAQ put to the top of the list, so that when you first access the forums it is there right at the top? And then add the step-by-step guide to the toip of the FAQ forum?

    Just a thought?

I'm also with BW on the importance of the FAQs and I wonder how they are missed, but missed they are by quite a few people. Or perhaps ignored? My point was, to be exact they are not right at the top. They are the 5th thread down The suggestion to raise them higher in the threads is so there is less chance thet can be ignored or missed
