Hi. I am about to send my preliminary approach for repayment letter to the Bank of Scotland and i'm finding the whole experience rather daunting!!!

I'm a bit confused about what interest i have to include with my request. Am i requesting refund of the Account Maintenance Charges that were applied to my account each month my account went overdrawn, or is there some other interest that i should be requesting back?

Once i know this information i will then be able to complete my spreadsheet.

Many thanks

Scott

You do not include any interest at this point. Just the charges that have occurred.

You wont need to add interest until (and IF) it went to court action (MoneyClaim) :)

Good luck and dont be nervous.

It gets better as it goes on ;)

Thanks Fullyskinted your help is much appreciated.

Basically, i just include all my excess overdraft charges and account maintenance charges for the last six years.

I feel more confident already :)

Thanks again.

I personally just went for the easy option - i.e. just the charges /fees. SOme have gone the whole hog and gone for the overdraught interest, but imho its not on (this si MY opinion remember ;) ) - if you have an overdraught and use it then the bank is well within its rights to charge you its interest rate applied to overdraughts.

It also makes the claim a lot easier to work out ;)

I think i will do just that and go for the easy option. I have to claim back £609.00 in excess overdraft charges and £312.00 in account maintenance charges. As for any other interest i wouldn't have a clue how to work it out!

Cheers.

I take it you have the simple calcs excel sheet?

If not, go get it! I think it was Vampiress that posted them.

On the sheets it has the columns you need, incl the 8% interest from date of charge/fee.

Very handy! ;)

Use this. Until it goes to court action you dont need to include the 8% interest on the schedule of charges sheets.

Just alter the print area accordingly :)
